The Indian government has made BIS ISI Mark certification mandatory for electrical appliances used for domestic water heating under the Electrical Appliances for Domestic Water Heating (Quality Control) Order, 2025.
From 1st March 2025 onwards, manufacturers of electric water heaters, immersion heaters, instantaneous water heaters, and related appliances must comply with applicable Indian Standards and obtain BIS certification under Scheme-I (ISI Mark Scheme).
