BIS Certification for Electric Ice-Cream Machines – IS 302 (Part 1): 2024


Electric Ice-Cream Machines are increasingly used in households, restaurants, cafés, and commercial kitchens for quick and efficient ice-cream preparation. To ensure consumer safety and product reliability, the Government of India has made BIS Certification mandatory for Electric Ice-Cream Machines under the Safety of Household, Commercial and Similar Electrical Appliances (Quality Control) Order, 2025 (QCO 2025).


From 19th March 2026, no manufacturer, importer, or seller can sell Electric Ice-Cream Machines in India without the ISI Mark, issued by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS).


Applicable Standard for Electric Ice-Cream Machines


1. ) IS 302 (Part 1): 2024 / IEC 60335-1:2020

Household and Similar Electrical Appliances – Safety – Part 1: General Requirements


This standard covers general safety, mechanical strength, electrical performance, fire hazards, insulation resistance, and durability of Electric Ice-Cream Machines, including those designed for refrigerators and freezers.

BIS Certification Scheme Applicable
